After adopting their new budget, Mayor Christine Hunschofsky is weighing in after the City of Parkland had their first millage rate increase in eight years.
Last June, after serving two years on the commission, Grace Solomon announced she would not be seeking reelection.
The City of Parkland will hold their second budget hearing. This time, with a slightly lower millage rate.
In a city with one of the lowest millage rates in Broward County, the City of Parkland is proposing to increase taxes by 20 percent to help pay for the additional school resource officers along with other improvements.
Stating that it met all legal criteria for the special exception, the commission voted unanimously to approve a new charter school in Parkland at a special meeting.
A sea of red shirts that said “Vote No” filled the commission chambers at the Parkland special meeting on Wednesday to protest a proposed charter school in the community.
Early voting is over after nine consecutive days, so if you haven’t voted already, Tuesday will be your last chance to cast your ballot.
With early voting beginning Saturday and lasting nine consecutive days, voters shouldn’t have any excuse to miss this year’s midterm elections.
