Through our joint effort with the Broward Sheriff’s Office to share updates to residents, this is a summary of crimes that occurred in Parkland through August 19. Names of those not arrested have been redacted.
Information
9300 Hillsboro Blvd/University Drive
On August 13, a female motorist spotted a male subject in a black Hyundai following her. The vehicle was located and stopped in the 5900 block of University Drive by the sergeant, and further investigation revealed that the subject was a “private investigator” hired to follow her.
7700 block of Loxahatchee Road
On August 16, a female victim called the Broward Sheriff’s Office to report property damage to her vehicle.
6200 block of NW 101 Ave – Meadow Run
On August 16, deputies responded to the address in reference to damage that was done to the gate arm at the guard date. The arm fell on a vehicle causing minor damage to the driver side pillar.
11049 Hillsboro Blvd/Lago Way
On August 16, a hazmat/gas leak occurred after a construction worker severed the gas line. Hillsboro Blvd was blocked between Nob Hill and the entrance to Heron Bay until Teco Gas responded and capped the leak.
5800 block of NW 66 Way
On August 16, the deputy responded to the residence in reference to a custody issue. The father picked up his son from school on a day that was not designated for him. The mother contacted BSO to make a report.
7800 block of Marvanna Lane – Parkland Golf and Country Club
On August 19, Coral Springs Parkland Fire Department received a call regarding a residential gas leak. TECO Gas company responded and secured the gas line.
Theft-all other
11100 block of NW 77 Place
On August 17, the victim reported a delayed theft of his cellphone while he was attending a party at the location.
Domestic Disturbance
5700 block of NW 62 Street
On August 19, a wife and husband allegedly were arguing. The wife was contacted outside the home. She was uncooperative and drove off, while the husband was upstairs sleeping. The daughter denied calling.
Found Property
10555 Trails End – Pine Trails Park
On August 13, a City of Parkland employee found a box of 25 Remington 12 gauge shotgun shells in the front blacktop parking lot near Trails End. A property receipt was completed and the abandoned property was placed into evidence for destruction.
Schools
5901 Pine Island Road – Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School
On August 14, a student wrote a concerning answer on a school paper which was turned in, and the school requested a welfare check on the child.
11010 Nob Hill Road – Heron Heights Elementary School
On August 15, a kindergarten student was accidentally dropped off at the wrong school.
5901 Pine Island Road – Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School
On August 15, the reporting person advised the deputy that her vehicle was damaged by a parking lot gate at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School on August 8. Although the damage was already reported at the date and time that the property damage occurred, the complainant requested a police report to further the claim that she is filing with the Broward County School Board.
5901 Pine Island Road – Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School
On August 19, the deputy spoke to the reportee. He advised an unknown person on an unknown gamer site posted threats in reference to MSD High School.
11000 Holmberg Road – Westglades Middle School
On August 19, deputies responded to a report by school security of an adult male, who entered the west gate of the campus on his motorcycle, then dismounted to walk from the parking lot toward an unknown direction. The subject was located and properly identified as a school board employee who was meeting his child on the soccer field for practice.
