Della and Odie. {Broward County Animal Care}
Odie, a friendly cat whose owner died, and Della, an affectionate dog who takes her time on walks, are waiting for new homes at Broward County Animal Care.
Odie is a 7-year-old domestic shorthair who arrived at the shelter this month after his owner died. With no family or friends available to take him in, he is looking for someone who enjoys a talkative companion. Shelter staff say Odie likes attention and being petted and could make a good lap cat. At 16 pounds, he would benefit from reaching a healthier weight.
Della is a 7-year-old American Staffordshire terrier mix who weighs 64 pounds. She enjoys leisurely walks, stopping to sniff the grass, and is quick to offer kisses and snuggles. As a Pet Project-sponsored pet, Della will receive free food, vaccines, and monthly preventive care, along with reduced-cost veterinary care for the rest of her life after adoption.
Both pets have been spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. Their adoption fees are waived; adopters pay a $25 Broward County pet registration fee.
You can meet Odie and Della at Broward County Animal Care, 2400 SW 42nd St. in Fort Lauderdale. The shelter is open for adoptions daily from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. View other available animals at Broward.org/Animal.
