Marjory Stoneman Douglas had a second player selected in the 2024 MLB Draft, right-handed pitcher Jayden Dubanewicz.
“It’s an unreal feeling,” Dubanewicz said. “It caught me by surprise, that’s for sure. You know, late in the draft, your mind starts racing, and the thoughts come in, but at the end of the day, I am beyond blessed to have heard my name called.”
After his incredible high school career, the Milwaukee Brewers selected Dubanewicz with the 485th pick in the 16th round. Dubanewicz went 12-0 for MSD during his sophomore and junior years, helping the Eagles win a pair of State and National Championships. As a senior, Dubanewicz went on to go 7-2 with an era of 1.52
“I couldn’t be happier for Jayden,” Head Coach Todd Fitz-Gerald said. “He won big game after big game for us, and no matter what he decides to do, his future is bright. He is so competitive and is a winner.”
The University of Florida signee must choose between signing with the Brewers or heading to college.
