To honor Gina Rose Montalto, one of the 17 victims of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting, her family is hosting its seventh annual beach cleanup in Pompano.
The Gina Rose Montalto Memorial Foundation helps students with the cost of post-secondary education and makes charitable donations to causes Gina supported.
“The annual beach cleanup organized by the Gina Rose Montalto Memorial Foundation is an opportunity for the community to come together and remember what a beautiful soul our daughter Gina was,” said her mom, Jennifer Montalto, adding that Gina loved spending time with friends and family and always enjoyed bringing people together, especially if it was for a good cause.
Held on Sunday, February 16, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Pompano Beach Fishing Pier, the community event is also an opportunity to receive service hours.
The participants can get additional service hours by donating “fun-size” non-chocolate candy or gift cards to Walmart, Target, Publix, and Amazon to help support the foundation’s 8th Annual Egg My Lawn event this spring.
Pompano Beach Fishing Pier is located at 222 North Pompano Blvd. Please wear your Gina shirt and remember to bring gloves and bags to collect garbage.
