Congregation Kol Tikvah in Parkland has announced hiring Jessica Smiley as the new Director of Engagement and Youth Education, effective August 19.
Jessica will lead all youth and family programming and serve as the director of Mensch University, the congregation’s religious school.
She brings over 20 years of experience in Jewish education, including roles as a Curriculum Coordinator, Literary Specialist, B’nai Mitzvah Coordinator, and Religious School Director. She has deep ties to Kol Tikvah, having taught at the congregation from 2010 to 2020.
A Parkland resident for 15 years, Jessica holds a degree in Education from Lynn University and is pursuing a Master’s in Jewish Education from Hebrew Union College—Jewish Institute of Religion, which is expected in May 2025.
“I am thrilled to have Jessica return to Kol Tikvah.,” said Alan Rosen, Congregation Kol Tikvah’s President. “Her enthusiasm for Jewish education is palpable, and the entire staff and congregants who knew her are eagerly looking forward to her return as the Director of our religious school.”
Rabbi Bradd Boxman echoed this sentiment, adding, “Jessica’s enthusiasm for Jewish learning will inspire our children and strengthen our community.”
Kol Tikvah’s youth program includes a youth group and Mensch University, serving children from kindergarten through 12th grade.
The religious school’s first day of class is September 8, with numerous events planned for the 2024-2025 academic year.
