Congregation Kol Tikvah has named veteran youth educator Jorge Volinsky as director of its new Jewish afterschool program, The Hangout @ CKT, set to launch this fall for children in kindergarten through fifth grade.
The program will provide a camp-style afterschool environment focused on Jewish learning, recreation and community engagement for families in Parkland and Coral Springs.
Volinsky brings more than 25 years of experience in youth engagement, Jewish education and athletic programming in the United States and abroad. Originally from Argentina, he previously served as campus sports director at Sociedad Hebraica Argentina, where he oversaw youth sports and recreational programming.
After moving to the United States, Volinsky held leadership positions at Jewish community centers in Boca Raton and Dallas, where he developed after-school enrichment and youth programs.
For nearly 15 years, he also worked at Donna Klein Jewish Academy as a teacher, coach and program leader. His responsibilities included coaching middle school soccer, teaching physical education, coordinating athletics and leading educational trips to Israel for eighth-grade students.
“We are delighted to welcome Jorge to Congregation Kol Tikvah,” Executive Director Justin Pollack said in a statement. “He brings exceptional depth of experience working with children and teens, along with a proven ability to build meaningful, engaging and values-driven programs.”
Volinsky said he looks forward to helping create a welcoming and engaging after-school environment for local children.
“The Hangout @ CKT is about creating a place where kids feel excited to come each afternoon, build friendships, and grow in meaningful ways,” he said.
The Hangout @ CKT will include transportation from select local schools, homework assistance, healthy snacks, outdoor recreation, arts and STEM activities, Hebrew and Jewish learning, music, tefillah and holiday-themed programming.
Transportation is currently planned from several nearby schools, including Park Trails Elementary School, Heron Heights Elementary School, Riverglades Elementary School, and Somerset Parkland Academy, with additional schools potentially added based on enrollment demand.
The program was developed in partnership with Jewish Kids Groups and the Jewish Afterschool Accelerator. Congregation Kol Tikvah was selected as one of 20 organizations nationwide to participate in the accelerator’s fourth cohort supporting innovative Jewish afterschool models.
Founded in 1991, Congregation Kol Tikvah serves more than 300 member households in Parkland and the surrounding North Broward community. They are located at 6750 N University Drive in Parkland.
