
Marjory Stoneman Douglas Water Polo Team. {MSD Water Polo}
The Marjory Stoneman Douglas water polo teams were back in the postseason after the two teams combined for 15 wins this year.
The boys team finished 9-5 in the regular season and were seeded sixth in the postseason before falling 21-11 against Mourning High School on April 9.
Connor Wilford and Justin Berke recorded hat-tricks, while Juan Lopez and Jacob Wilford scored twice, and Nathan Didovic tallied one. Lopez also led the team with three assists, with Didovic, Jacob, Connor, and Austin McClellan combined for four.
The Eagles previously had two wins over Cardinal Gibbons this year. Also, they beat Fort Lauderdale, Nova, Western, Coral Springs High School, Charles W. Flanagan, Cypress Bay, and West Boca Raton.
Lopez finished 11th in the country with 94 goals and 32 assists. Didovic finished second on the team with 34 goals, followed by Connor and Jacob. Berke, who only played in five games, averaged three goals per game, with McClellan, Christian Nicholas, Matthew Feuss, Keith Bronson, and Dylan Shaping contributing to the 214 goals this season. Noah Seid dominated in net making 115 saves. Didovic, Connor, Jacob, Berke, McClellan and Feuss are all set to graduate.
The girls’ team went 6-8 in the regular season and was seeded eighth in the postseason before losing 20-4 against top-seeded St. Thomas Aquinas High School. Jessica Lee and Viviana Fernandez each had a goal and an assist, while Elizabeth Shihman and Ayden Carey also scored, and Kayleigh Didovic recorded an assist.
The Eagles had beat Nova, Western, Pompano Beach, Deerfield Beach, West Boca Raton, and Deerfield Beach High School, scoring 164 goals. Sadie Titensor led the team with 38 goals and 18 assists, followed by Fernandez, Shihman, Didivocic, and Jessica Lee, who all scored at least 20 goals. Sienna Grayeli recorded 17 goals, while Roni Lubarsky, Hayley Tywang, Adden Carey, Isabella Perez, and Brittany Bean scored at least two goals. Bean also made 137 saves and will return next year. MSD, though, will have Lubarsky, Tywang, Lee, and Fernandez all graduate this year.
