Not only is the Big Apple world-renowned for its Broadway shows, Central Park and Greenwich Village, New York City is also home to some mighty fine pizza.
And for those who find themselves craving a tasty slice or two (or even three,) there’s good news on the way. A new pizza store, aptly named The New York Pizza Place, will be opening next month in the Sawgrass Center at 5968 Coral Ridge Drive in Coral Springs, near Publix.
This will be co-owner Khris Slusser’s second New York-style pizzeria. They opened their first store in Boca Raton’s Mission Bay last August. Slusser says their new store is scheduled to open during the week of July 21.
Slusser says he’s a Florida guy, but his business partner’s wife hails from Staten Island.
And what gives their pizza that unique New York flavor? “It’s true New York dough,” he said, proudly adding it’s being imported straight here from NYC. “We also have one of the few ‘brick-conveyer ovens’ in the country. It will spit out a pizza in just four minutes.”
This location marks his second venture into the world of pizza. Both he and his partner have other businesses. However, they’re looking to expand in the future. “We want ten stores. That’s our goal.”
Slusser says their most important focus is good customer service and a quality product. “It’s good pizza,” he says.
Boca Raton, the home of their first store, is heavily populated with New Yorkers. “Our customers say they love it,” he says. “ ‘It’s like you’re in New York.’ “
