Parkland Animal Clinic, a longtime veterinary provider for families in Parkland and surrounding communities, has entered a new phase under the ownership and medical leadership of Dr. Arlianne Velez, who became owner and medical director in December 2025.
Located in Parkland Commons, the clinic has served local pet owners for more than a decade under former owner Dr. Jeffrey Sands, who retired last May and sold his remaining equity in the practice.
Under Dr. Velez’s direction, the practice plans to expand services and invest in new technology while maintaining its focus on personalized, community-based veterinary care.
Dr. Velez and her family are Parkland residents, a connection she says strengthens the clinic’s role in the community.
“Being part of this community matters to us,” Velez said. “We see our clients around town, at community events and in local businesses. That creates a sense of responsibility that goes beyond medicine. This clinic is part of our lives, not just our work.”
As both owner and medical director, Velez oversees medical standards, staff training and patient care protocols. She emphasizes evidence-based medicine, communication with pet owners and collaboration among veterinarians, technicians and staff.
“My priority is making sure our team has the time, tools, and support to practice medicine the right way,” she said. “That allows us to focus on each patient and each family, and to build long-term relationships based on trust.”
Since taking ownership, the clinic has begun investing in upgrades and expansions to improve services and increase treatment capacity. Planned improvements include modernization of treatment areas, upgrades to diagnostic and imaging equipment, implementation of advanced medical record systems, surgical equipment enhancements and improvements to appointment and client communication systems.
Facility upgrades are also planned to support growing demand and allow for expanded services in the future.
“We’re excited about what we’re building,” Velez said. “Our goal is to continue growing in a thoughtful way and to offer the highest level of veterinary care right here in the community, without families needing to travel far for advanced services.”
Looking ahead, the clinic plans to add services, expand its veterinary team, and continue collaborating with specialists to provide comprehensive care for pets in Parkland and nearby communities.
.The clinic is located at 8017 N University Drive in Parkland. More information is available at ParklandAnimalClinic.com or by calling 954-757-9990.
