On February 7, the Florida Department of Health reported 92,430 COVID-19 tests were conducted. Out of those, 9,631 came back positive. Of the positive test results, 5,640 were that of Floridians, finding out they had tested positive for the first time.

Testing data for February 7 shows a massive decrease in Floridians that were tested for COVID-19. By comparison, over 220,000 Floridians tested for COVID-19 on February 4. February 7 marked the second time in the last two weeks that fewer than 6,000 new COVID-19 cases were reported.

While testing saw a large decrease yesterday, the positivity rate remained at a troubling 10.42-percent. Data shows of the total positivity rate, 7.37-percent of Floridians tested on February 7 were finding out for the first time that they had tested positive for COVID-19.

In Parkland, there were 1,955 positive COVID-19 cases. It’s likely that Parkland will pass the 2,000 total all-time cases threshold sometime this week.

Statewide in Florida, there have been 1,783,720 positive COVID-19 cases to date. The average age to contract COVID-19 in Broward County on February 7 was 39-years-old. For months, the average Floridian to test positive for COVID-19 has hovered between 39 and 42-years-old.

Since the pandemic began, 27,815 Floridians have died from COVID-19, with 74,543 patients hospitalized.
