The Parkland Pokers 9u baseball team attended the USSSA Winter Nationals in Viera and won the Championship on Feb. 10-12.
They came in seeded as the top seed. and went 5-0 on the weekend. The Pokers scored at least nine runs every game and outscored their opposition 55-23 in their five games. However, two of the games were decided by three runs or less.
“It’s great to see nine and ten-year-old boys mentally battle and persevere through close games,” said Manager Craig Anderson. “The never give up attitude is what makes these boys a pretty special group. They stay in the moment mentally, and it is amazing to witness at such a young age.”
Their team consists of Levi Anderson, James Tremont, Jack Dickinson, JJ Mindiola, Christian Orozco, Landon Berger, Euro Granadillo, Noah Norwood, Tyler Lasher, Drew Ledezma, and Colin Weiler.
Next, the Pokers will compete in the Perfect Game Tournament in Wellington in March.
