Westglades Middle School continues its athletic success heading into the summer.
The Wolves finished the year winning the All Sports Girls Championship, having previously had the competitive cheerleading team take first place in their division. They were also the first-ever female MSAA Wrestling Champions, having had their boys and girls teams compete at the Regional Championship in Coral Springs.
In track and field, the girls’ team finished third overall, with Jaclyn Milian winning the shot put and discus. Aaliyah Olsen came in first in the 100 hurdles, placing sixth in the 400 meters, seventh in the long jump, and ninth in the 200 meters.
Alexis Caropreso also shined, coming in second in the 800 meters. Sheyenne Cousins and Chrystal Chambers finished just outside the top ten on the track, with their two relay teams placing 11th in the 4 x 200 and 12th in the 4 x 100.
The boys’ team came in 11th overall, highlighted by a win from Levi Bekker in the 1600 meters. He also placed fifth in the 800 meters and came in the same spot at 400 meters. Ari Arbel also earned the Wolves a point after eighth in the 1600 meters. Westglades also had Marcus DuBreuze and Brianna Loo Martinez named scholar-athletes.
