12U Original Pokers of Parkland Finishes Successful Season With Strong Tournament in Cooperstown

The 12U Original Pokers of Parkland had an impressive season, winning two tournaments and recently finishing as the top-ranked team after pool play in Cooperstown.

Competing against 104 teams, the Pokers earned the No. 1 seed by winning all five pool-play games in dominant fashion. They won their first three contests by a combined margin of 60 runs.

Grayson Murray hit two home runs while Mason Lord and Riley Miller each added one in a 25-1 victory over DBA Crashers Black on Friday. The offensive explosion continued Saturday as Jay DeOliveira homered in a 23-0 win over Northwest Travelers . He also pitched the first two innings while Owen Garber and Tyler Lasher combined to strike out nine batters in a no-hitter.

Noah Nelke then earned the win against Wimberley Elite as the Pokers won 15-2. Parkland faced their toughest challenge on Sunday against the Motor City Hit Dogs. After falling behind 3-0, the team rallied with four runs in the fourth inning to take the lead. They added insurance runs in the fifth and sixth innings to secure a 6-4 victory.

DeOliveira homered again and drove in four runs, while Murray also homered. JJ Minidola came on in relief and struck out eight batters over 4.2 innings. Levi Anderson added three hits from the leadoff spot and also played tremendous defense throughout the tournament, turning three double plays with Riley Miller and Minidola. They also had a highlight reel play in the tournament with Murray throwing out a runner from center field.

Later in the tournament, the Pokers hit five home runs in a 12-3 win over Fennell Bros. Express. Noah Morrison hit two home runs, while DeOliveira, Garber and Lasher each added one. The Pokers fell in bracket play to Sparks North, 10-9. After surrendering three runs in the first inning, the Pokers answered with seven runs in the bottom half and built an 8-4 lead in the second inning before Sparks North rallied to take the lead in the fifth.

The Pokers finished the season with a 34-22-3 record. They captured championships at the USSSA Under Armour Championship and the Perfect Game Key West Classic while also finishing as runners-up at the USSSA Easton Hype Super NIT. The organization recently held tryouts as the team transitions to the 13U level and looks for two experienced players to join the team for the fall 2026 season.
