The Miami Marlins officially selected a pair of Marjory Stoneman Douglas graduates in the 2025 MLB Draft.
Chris Arroyo was picked with the 139th pick in the fifth round by the Marlins. A 2022 graduate of MSD, Arroyo went 8-1 while also hitting eight home runs. He began his college career at the University of Florida and earned a win before transferring to Pasco-Hernando State College as a two-way player. The Preseason All-American hit .291 with eight doubles, one triple, 11 home runs, and 42 RBIs. He also made three starts and came out of the bullpen four times.
Jake Clemente was drafted in the seventh round with the 198th pick by Miami. He was a star at the high school level, beginning his career at North Broward Prep. He went on to play for the Eagles and went 11-2 with a 1.10 ERA and 106 strikeouts in 75 innings. He won a pair of State and National Championships while also shining at the plate with nine home runs and 56 RBIS.
At the collegiate level, Clemente was injured during his freshman year but went on to pitch in 19 games during his second year with the Florida Gators. He won two games and began 2025 as the team’s Sunday starter, transitioned into the bullpen, and became one of the top relief pitchers in college baseball with seven saves. He pitched in 21 games and had an ERA of 3.46 to earn a spot on the Second-Team All-Conference.
