It was an incredible Martin Luther King Jr. Weekend for Parkland travel soccers teams 2008 Red Girls, 2007 Red Boys, and 2008 Red Boys.
2008 Red Girls
The 2008 Red Girls won the Wellington Championship in the season’s first tournament. They went undefeated in Group Play by beating Key Biscayne, Wellington, Cooper City, and Brevard County before winning 4-1 in the finals against Juventus Academy in Miami.
“We are super proud of our girls because even though we played some great opponents, that can be seen by the close results of all of our games,” said Head Coach Cristian Raudales. “The girls played our style of play and outperformed each opponent.”
Their teams consist of Ashley Bean, Sophia Canizalez, Diana Doherty, Madison Filsaime, Danielle Fordin, Elayna Garzon, Elisabeth Garzon, Victoria Griffith, Madison Iglesias, Chloe Measel, Allison Ofstein, Emma Rosenstein, Sophia Ruiz, Emily Sarria, Claire Schwartz, Avianna Tenore, Cameron Territo, Alaysia Tucker, and Sari Wilson.
2007 Red Boys
The boy’s teams didn’t play in a tournament, but the 2007 red boys competed against serval of the top teams in the country in the JFC Boys Invitational in Jacksonville. They defeated two MLS Next teams, including the host Jacksonville F.C. and West Florida Flames, before falling in one game against Virginia Academy 2-1.
“I’m proud of the boys for the way they play and interact on the field, said Head Coach Dumel Decius. You can see their love for the game. It doesn’t matter who we play or where we play. Our goal is to play quality soccer.”
The 2007 boys team includes Coby Alhadeff, Elijah Argov, Aaron Caballero, Bradley Chung, Alexander Jimenez, Benjamin Labrador, Gabriel Lana, Luca Lopez, Michael Marcedo, Arthur Medina, Sebastian Mendez, Jaime Millan, Steve Modde Jr., Shayan Noor, Marco Tuesta, Colton Turnick, David Vargas and Aquiles Yibirin.
2008 Red Boys
The 2008 boys team also picked up two wins by defeating Orlando City MLS and Barcelona Academy from Miami in the JFC Boys Invitational. They also tied against a team from Orlando.
“They keep taking each game and turning it into a growth and development opportunity,” Head Coach Jon Nascimiento said. “In Jacksonville, they faced top competition from throughout the State of Florida, and the boys responded with toughness, grit, and determination.”
Their talented team consists of Jonah Harwin, Juan Batista, Logan Balser, Lucas Ladislau, Luke Chagas, Naej Desravins, Pietro Maia, Samuel Marquez, Alex Gosselin, Andrew Poe, Anthony Diaz, Brandon Valdez, Clayton Boone, Frank Markovich, Gabriele Villa, and Jayden Hernandez.
Next, all three of these teams will turn their attention to Weston Cup on February 18-21. This tournament will feature many of the tops teams in the country, with most of the games being played in Fort Myers.
