According to Broward County Public Schools, the demolition of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School’s 1200 building will take place immediately following the conclusion of the 2023/24 school year.
The building’s removal is part of a broader strategy involving health and safety experts to ensure the continued well-being of the school community. According to the district, the process will include thorough cleaning and clearing of the premises, adhering to stringent state and Environmental Protection Agency regulations regarding landfill disposal.
The building had been preserved as a crime scene during the trials of the shooter and former school resource officer Scot Peterson.
