A Message from State Rep Christine Hunschofsky:
Happy New Year! I hope you and your family had a wonderful holiday season and a great start to 2021! Wishing everyone a bright new year ahead!
It is an honor to serve you as your District 96 State Representative. Since the election, our office has participated in events throughout the district and highlighted several small businesses during Shop Small Business Saturday.
At the Legislative Delegation meeting in December, we heard the local bills and supported the Beasley property’s annexation in Parkland. This property is owned by the City of Parkland and slated for parks and recreation use.
Our next Broward delegation meeting is on Wednesday, January 6, at 10 am. This meeting will include a workshop with the Broward County School Board, Constitutional Officers, local bill hearing testimony and votes, and other relevant topics. The meeting will take place at the Broward County School Administration Office at KC Wright, 600 SE Third Ave in Fort Lauderdale. More information can be found on the delegation website at www.broward.org/legislative.
Committee weeks begin this month in Tallahassee and are scheduled for the weeks of January 11 and January 25. You can follow all the bills filed and coming before the various committees by visiting www.myfloridahouse.gov. Additionally, I was assigned to the following committee/subcommittee assignments: Education & Employment Committee, Finance & Facilities Subcommittee, Early Learning & Elementary Education Subcommittee, Environment, Agriculture & Flooding Subcommittee, and State Administration & Technology Appropriations Subcommittee.
This month we are kicking off our high school internship program. This program will be open to high school students in grades 10-12 who live in the district and will provide these students an opportunity to volunteer for the office and learn more about the legislative process. If you would like more about this program or are interested in applying to be an intern, please contact our District Aide Lisa Librizzi at lisa.librizzi@myfloridahouse.gov.
I want to extend my best wishes to you and your family for a happy and healthy New Year. As the COVID-19 vaccinations begin, please continue to take all necessary precautions, including wearing a mask in public, physical distancing from those outside of your household, and washing your hands. Please remember to reach out and check in on family and friends safely to make sure they are doing well.
As always, please feel free to reach out to our office at 954-956-5600 with any questions you may have. I will also be providing updates on Facebook at @RepHunschofsky and Twitter at @chunschofsky. If you wish to receive email updates, please email us at HDIST096@myfloridahouse.gov.
Wishing you and your family a happy and healthy New Year!
Christine Hunschofsky
