The 2023 Walk-Off for Cancer
Help knock cancer out of the park with an annual fundraiser hosted by the New York Yankees’ Anthony Rizzo.
Rizzo, a Parkland native and former Marjory Stoneman Douglas student, will host his 13th Annual Walk-Off for Cancer on Sunday, November 24, at Pine Trails Park.
This year’s event will feature a 5K Walk and a new 5K Timed Run. Awards will be given to the top three male and female runners, who will also have the opportunity to take a photo with Anthony Rizzo and their trophy.
Each in-person registrant will receive a gift bag with an event t-shirt and a Nike drawstring bag. Participants also receive a complimentary breakfast and coffee. Children will have access to a special Kid Zone.
Rizzo will attend the event, greet participants, and take photos throughout.
The Anthony Rizzo Foundation also offers a virtual option so non-Floridians can participate this year. Virtual guests will have their gift bags sent to them and can join from anywhere in the United States.
Currently playing in the World Series with the New York Yankees, Rizzo is no stranger to the fight against cancer. At 18, he was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and underwent six months of chemotherapy. His experience inspired him to establish the Anthony Rizzo Family Foundation in 2012, which aims to financially and emotionally support families battling cancer, focusing on making a meaningful impact in the pediatric cancer community.
