Droopy and Stella at Broward County Animal Control. {BCAC}
Two adoptable pets at Broward County Animal Care are looking for permanent homes after spending time in the shelter system, and both are available to go home for just a $25 county pet registration fee.
Droopy, a 4-year-old neutered American bulldog mix weighing 56 pounds, arrived at the shelter in April as a frightened stray from North Lauderdale. Shelter staff said the once-timid dog has grown into a relaxed, friendly companion who enjoys spending time with people.
Outside of his kennel, Droopy is described as sweet, playful, and eager to run around a yard playing fetch. He also knows how to sit on command and is motivated by treats.
During a Broward Buddies outing, Droopy interacted well with elementary school-aged children and has also done well socializing with other dogs during shelter playgroups. Animal Care staff believe his friendly personality and easygoing nature would make him a great addition to many families.
After more than three months at the shelter, Droopy is vaccinated, neutered, microchipped, and ready for same-day adoption.
Also waiting for a home is Stella, a 1-year, 8-month-old spayed domestic shorthair calico weighing 10 pounds.
Stella arrived at the shelter as a stray in May and was quickly adopted, but she was returned about a month later after having difficulty adjusting to a home with another cat.
Despite that setback, staff describe Stella as an affectionate cat who enjoys being petted, playing with toys, scratching on her scratching post, and rolling in catnip. They believe she would do best as the only cat in the household, where she can receive plenty of attention.
Like Droopy, Stella is already spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped.
Broward County Animal Care is located at 2400 S.W. 42nd St. in Fort Lauderdale and is open daily from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. All adoption fees are waived, with adopters paying only the required $25 Broward County pet registration fee.
