Jennifer Montalto, organizer of the 9th Annual “Egg My Lawn” community fundraiser, is seeking volunteers to help make this year’s event a success. High school students can earn service hours by signing up to assist.
A victim of the mass shooting at the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in 2018, Jennifer’s daughter, Gina, enjoyed the thrill of the hunt on Easter morning.
“Gina was a born leader who loved bringing friends and family together,” Jennifer said in a 2025 interview. “This event is precisely the type of thing she would’ve organized and run herself had she not been taken from us. “Egg My Lawn” encompasses so much of what she valued; she loved celebrating holidays with family, she loved helping others, and she loved kids.”
Now in its ninth year, she invites residents to “egg” (decorate with Easter eggs) the lawns of local families as a fun springtime tradition. High school students and other community members are encouraged to get involved and can register for volunteer shifts to earn valuable service hours.
Last year, 253 homes were “egged,” resulting in over 12,000 eggs used
Volunteers of all ages are welcome (with appropriate supervision for minors). Students can earn service hours for both donations and volunteering:
