Enrique Miguel Calderon {BSO}
A man with a history of defrauding customers through fake landscaping jobs has been arrested again, this time accused of scamming a Parkland resident, according to Broward County court records.
According to Broward County Sheriff’s Office records, Enrique Miguel Calderon, 30, of Miramar, was taken into custody on September 22 and charged with grand theft stemming from his latest crime in which he allegedly defrauded a Parkland resident.
Deputies say Calderon approached a Parkland resident in April, offering landscaping services. The two agreed on a $10,000 project, and Calderon allegedly accepted a $3,000 down payment, promising to return to begin work.
Investigators say Calderon failed to show up as promised and blocked the victim’s calls. Ten days later, Calderon reportedly returned unannounced, removed two trees from the property, and requested an additional $3,000 to purchase materials.
After receiving the payment, deputies allege that he again cut off communication and failed to deliver the agreed-upon work or materials.
Court records indicate that Calderon has a history of similar offenses. In a previous case, he claimed to own “Palm Color Landscaping” and stole thousands of dollars from a man who had hired him to plant flowers for his wife’s birthday.
In each instance, authorities say the sequence of events has been nearly identical: advertising services, promising work, collecting a deposit, then failing to perform while blocking all communication with the customer.
Calderon was booked into the Broward County Main Jail and later released after posting a $10,000 bond.
