A man accused of assaulting a BJ’s Wholesale Club employee was arrested and charged with burglary with assault or battery.
According to Broward County Sheriff’s Office arrest records, Daniel Jonas, 32, of Pompano Beach, was arrested following an incident that occurred on December 7 at the BJ’s Wholesale Club tire shop located at 5901 West Hillsboro Boulevard.
According to a probable cause affidavit, police allege that Jonas became impatient with the service he was receiving and entered an area of the tire shop clearly marked as restricted to employees only.
Once inside the restricted area, investigators say Jonas confronted a BJ’s employee who told him he was not allowed to be there and needed to leave. After a brief interaction, Jonas allegedly walked across the garage area, approached the employee, waved his finger in the victim’s face while yelling “pussy,” at him, and then struck the employee on the right side of the face with an open hand.
The strike reportedly left a visible red mark on the employee’s face before Jonas exited the garage through a bay door. Police said the incident was captured on surveillance video,
Jonas was arrested on December 24 and transported to the Broward County Main Jail.
