The Marjory Stoneman Douglas girls soccer team had a triumphant week, scoring two impressive victories against formidable opponents.
The Eagles started it off by handing Pembroke Pines Charter their first loss in their sixth game with a 2-0 win. Grace Dykstra scored both goals to give her ten on the season, while Ella Stevens recorded a shutout in net.
MSD followed that up with a win at home against West Broward High School, who came into the game with a record of 4-0-1. Dykstra added another goal, while Layla Segelnick and Breanna Gordon also scored.
“It was a very challenging week with quality opponents that forced us to work really hard to get the wins,” said Head Coach Laura Rountree.
The Eagles are now 6-1-1 this year, with their only loss coming against St. Thomas Aquinas High School. They have beaten Monarch, Pompano Beach, Western, Coral Glades, Fort Lauderdale, Pembroke Pines Charter, and West Broward and have outscored the opposition 38-7 this season.
MSD will play two more games before the holiday break, starting off with Coral Springs High School on Tuesday, Dec 20, before playing Cooper City High School on Dec 22. Both those teams have combined to win eight games this year.
