The Marjory Stoneman Douglas girls’ volleyball team is five wins away from a State Championship and will enter Regionals as the seventh seed playing at Coral Reef High School.
The Eagles, who won just seven matches in the regular season, went on a magical run to win the District Championship in all three matches in straight sets. They beat J.P. Taravella, Spanish River, and top-seeded Boca Raton Community High School.
MSD will play their first match on Thursday, October 24, at 7 p.m. Coral Reef is seeded second and went 22-4 this year. They also won their District Championship, and their only losses this year came against Bishop Moore, Florida Christina, Rivera Prep, and Miami Palmetto Senior High School.
The winner of this game will play either Boca Raton or Western High School in the semifinals. Even after losing to MSD, the Bobcats were seeded third, while Cypress Bay, Wellington Doral Academy, and Coral Gables High School are all on the other side of the bracket.
