Parkland Mayor Rich Walker.
From Mayor Rich Walker:
Successful endeavors begin with intentionality.
Every back-to-school season is a new start, and, whether we are the student, parent, or teacher in this new fall chapter, we can all benefit from taking a moment to set a positive, purposeful tone for the months ahead.
As you prepare for the familiar rhythm of a new school year, get ahead of the game and make plans to be on time, be attentive, and demonstrate a commitment to education. Regardless of your role, just a few moments of mental planning can really pay off if you focus on realistic goals that make sense to you.
When we jump back into the school routine, many of our frustrations originate from lack of planning or awareness. It is a given that mornings are going to be stressful, so take a moment now to assess what always goes wrong. Before school starts, you can work out solutions for the inevitable stressors, like breakfasts, bus routes, and carlines. A simple tweak of getting out of the house 10 minutes earlier could ease your stress for the rest of the day.
More ways to maximize your success this back-to-school season? Set a few solid goals like these:
- Establish good study (or work) habits early in the school year.
- Stay organized and focused.
- Take care physically and mentally.
- Get enough sleep.
- Eat a healthy diet.
- Connect with your friend base and commit to being a good friend.
These points can benefit all of us. Make the most of the next few weeks ahead to approach the new school year with positivity, awareness, kindness, and determination.
If we strive to move forward with intentionality, we will continue to reach our short-term goals and make room for new ones as we go.
Of the many lessons in store, moving through life with confidence, kindness, and intention is one that will continue to set us up for success – this school year and for years to come.
