Original Florida Pokers Standouts Announce College Commitments and Transfers 5

The Original Florida Pokers’ success on the field is continuing to open doors at the next level, with several players announcing college commitments and transfers following standout high school and summer seasons.

Ivan Sabater, who was selected by the Tampa Bay Rays in the 20th round of the 2026 MLB Draft, has elected not to sign professionally and will instead honor his commitment to the University of Miami.

Sabater starred at West Broward High School, posting a 2.92 ERA with 80 strikeouts in 50.1 innings during his senior season. He continued his dominance this summer with the Original Florida Pokers, striking out 37 batters in 23.2 innings against elite competition. Prior to his senior year, Sabater also helped the Pokers capture two BCS Championship titles.

Everett Marshall is headed to the University of Florida after transferring from Samford University. The former Cardinal Gibbons standout hit 12 home runs and drove in 27 runs as a freshman after helping the Chiefs capture the 2024 State Championship.

Sergio Garcia committed to the State College of Florida following another strong season at the plate. The West Broward standout hit .359 during both the spring and summer, collecting 17 RBIs, four doubles and four triples with the Pokers after driving in 22 runs with seven extra-base hits during his high school season.

Jake Caruthers committed to Tulane University after an outstanding summer with the Pokers, batting .349 with a home run, 20 RBIs, seven doubles, two triples and 20 runs scored. The Chaminade-Madonna standout also hit .405 with five home runs and 20 RBIs this spring after previously helping St. Thomas Aquinas win a state championship while batting .405 with four home runs and 31 RBIs.
