Marjory Stoneman Douglas Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (JROTC) Eagles Battalion needs a golf cart and looking to the community for help.
The JROTC has a GofFundMe account to raise the $10,000 needed to make the purchase. So far, $1,535 has been donated.
The golf cart is needed to ensure the students’ safety while exercising off-campus. It will allow supervisors to follow along with the students.
“Without this form of transport, our cadets’ safety is not guaranteed, as no one will be there to provide supervision while the cadets run off-campus,” according to the GoFundMe page.
The golf cart also will help to supervise the JROTC cadets during their once-a-week physical training days. During drill and color guard season, it will also be used to transport supplies during competitions.
In 2021, the JROTC varsity team came in first place, for the first time in school history, in the state championship beating out 49 other schools for the honor.
Any business that donates to the fundraising effort will have a bumper sticker with its company logo placed on the golf cart.
“We would appreciate any donations, and thank you for helping us out in this great cause,” the GoFundMe page said.
