The Original Florida Pokers continued their success into the fall, with one team playing in their final tournament while two others won championships.
The 2026 team competed in their final tournament, winning one game against the 643 DP Cougars 7-2. Ivan Sabater struck out seven in three scoreless innings while Reggie Rodriguez drove in two. Nico Sabotino plated one along with an RBI from Jackson Taylor.
Jack Rostock pitched well in the team’s first game, but the Pokers fell 3-2. He did not allow an earned run in four innings, while Sabotino knocked in another run. The Pokers tied 6-6 against MCP, scoring five runs in ht bottom of the sixth.
Sabotino had three run home runs to tie the game, while Del Valle had two RBIs, and Rodriguez plated one. In the elimination game, Reid Dadic knocked in the only run for the Pokers, who fell 3-1.
However, the Pokers had an incredible run, going 57-27-3 during their time, including a PG Memorial Day Championship a season ago. Currently, the Pokers have several players from this year’s team committed to playing college baseball next year, including most recently Roman Zabala, who will be attending Florida A&M University. 5 starts, while playing high school baseball.
The senior drove in five runs with the Pokers and also plays for Spanish River Community High School, and has homered and driven in 27 runs while hitting well over .300 the last two years.Â
Josh Friedlnader is also committing to the University of North Florida and pitched in nine games for the Pokers this year and made five starts. He plays high school baseball at Park Vista Community High School, where his team made it to Fort Myers and competed at the State Championship.
The Pokers also had success from their 11u team, who went 4-0 to win the Swing for a Cure Championship. The team scored 54 runs in their first three games and then went on to win 5-2 in the championship game against Ovideo Outlaws. The 9u team also won a tournament, taking first in the Beast of the East Invitational.
