This Veterans Day, the City of Parkland will hold a special ceremony to pay tribute to the brave men and women who have donned the nation’s uniform.
The event is scheduled at Veterans Park, 6620 North University Drive, on Saturday, November 11, at 11:00 a.m.
In what promises to be a moving service, the city announces two keynote speakers for the event: Michael Cabrera and James Browning, both veterans with commendable service records who continue to serve and inspire their communities.
Michael Cabrera, a graduate of Boca Raton Community High School, answered the nation’s call in 1997, enlisting in the United States Army. Cabrera’s military journey saw him serve as a cavalry scout across various locations, including Fort Knox, Kentucky; Fort Drum, New York; and overseas in Camp Casey, South Korea. After his distinguished service, Cabrera continued his commitment to national service by joining the Florida National Guard in Miami as a translator and interrogator.
His dedication to lifelong learning led him back to academia, where Cabrera earned a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice and Political Science, with a minor in Communication, followed by a Juris Doctorate from Nova Southeastern University. In his civilian life, Cabrera has been equally impactful, co-founding the Estate Planning Law Firm of Reinfeld & Cabrera PA and playing a pivotal role in establishing the Veterans Coalition of Coral Springs.
James Browning will also bring a wealth of experience from his time in the United States Marine Corps. Having achieved the rank of E-5 Sergeant, Browning’s service is decorated with numerous accolades, including the National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, and many others.
His tours of duty include critical operations in Fallujah, Iraq, a Middle East deployment aboard the USS Baton with the 22nd MEU Amphibious Ready Group, and the Haiti Humanitarian Mission following the devastating earthquake in 2010.
The City of Parkland cordially invites all residents to join in this solemn yet celebratory event.
