The Broward County Sheriff’s Office in Parkland responded to various incidents between January 13 and 19, 2026.
Incident Summaries
Burglary – Conveyance
A man reported that three of his vehicles were burglarized while parked on his property sometime between Jan. 1 and Jan. 13. Airbags were stolen from two of the vehicles, resulting in an estimated loss of $600. The vehicle doors appeared to have been unlocked.
Threat Assessment Report
Deputies conducted a threat assessment involving a first-grade student following an incident on Dec. 19. The case was determined to be low risk and was closed.
Information Report – Threatening Text Message
A woman reported receiving a text message from her ex-husband stating, “I am going to make your life miserable,” shortly after he received a child support petition. The former couple has been divorced for four years.
Information Report – Email and Phone Hacking
A woman reported that her Gmail account had been hacked and that she was unable to recover it. She also believed her work email and iPhone had been compromised. She advised that reports were filed with the FBI.
Information Report – Behavioral Threat Assessment
Deputies documented a behavioral threat assessment conducted on a student. No further details were released.
Information Report – Civil Standby
A woman requested a deputy stand by while she attempted to retrieve personal items for her daughter from a residence. The incident was documented at her request.
Domestic Disturbance (Non-Crime)
Deputies responded to a verbal dispute between a mother and her 11-year-old son after she took away his cellphone. The child reportedly called 911 during the dispute while they were in a BJ’s parking lot.
Missing Person
Deputies responded after a vehicle was found running and unoccupied. The registered owner reported her adult son had left Georgia and could not be located. Due to his medical history and circumstances, aviation, K-9, and the Missing Persons Unit conducted an area search. A missing person flyer was completed.
Baker Act
An endangered missing person suffering from multiple mental disorders was located and taken into custody under the Baker Act after exhibiting erratic behavior.
Extortion / Blackmail
A man reported receiving multiple scam phone calls, text messages, and videos from unknown numbers threatening harm to him and his family unless money was paid. The estimated loss was $2,000. He was advised on safety precautions.
Information Report – Harassment Complaint
Residents reported being approached in their neighborhood by individuals with whom they had a prior contractor dispute, who demanded money. The incident was documented for informational purposes.
Information Report – Dog Altercation
A woman reported that her leashed dog was briefly approached by an unleashed dog. The other dog’s owner regained control, and no injuries were reported.
Criminal Mischief
A woman reported damage to her vehicle after an object struck her windshield while driving through a tunnel under Trails End on Old Club Road. Balloons and water were observed at the scene. No suspects were located.
Burglary – Residence
A woman reported that her ex-boyfriend entered her back patio and removed a Ring camera valued at approximately $150. Video footage and text messages were provided. She declined to pursue criminal charges and signed a waiver of prosecution, but stated she intends to seek a restraining order.
Arrests
Grand Theft (First Degree)
Wei Hong La Femina, 48, was arrested Jan. 17 on a charge of grand theft in the first degree.
Domestic Battery
Darryl Hilton Weiner, 66, was arrested Jan. 19 on a charge of touch or strike battery involving domestic violence.
