A Parkland man has been arrested and charged with burglary and assault after breaking into his neighbor’s home.
According to arrest records, on July 24, the Broward County Sherrif’s Office responded to a residence near the 7400 block of Dover Lane in response to a 911 call from a homeowner who claimed to be away with her children, received a Ring camera alert on her phone, notifying her of an intruder at her home.
The woman told deputies that while viewing the live camera feed, she witnessed her neighbor, later identified as Dennis Bowsher, 71, of Parkland, forcefully entering her home and assaulting her husband.
Records show the woman claims that she saw Bowsher violently attack her husband and drag him out of the camera’s view.
When BSO deputies arrived on the scene, they found the woman’s husband bleeding from his right arm, with visible injuries that included red marks around his neck and a torn t-shirt.
The victim recounted that Bowsher had knocked on his door and, upon partially opening it, rushed in and immediately attacked him, shouting “You. You. You,” during his assault.
BSO records indicate that the victim initially managed to push Bowsher out of the house towards the front bushes, but Bowsher then grabbed him by the neck with both hands and allegedly choked him.
The victim informed law enforcement on the scene that he did not lose consciousness and was eventually able to push Bowsher away. Bowsher reportedly retreated to his home next door after the altercation.
Bowsher, when interviewed by law enforcement, reportedly admitted to placing his hands on the victim’s neck and ripping his shirt but claimed he stopped when asked to.
He was arrested and transported to the Broward County Main Jail.
