Through our joint effort with the Broward Sheriff’s Office to share updates to residents, this is a summary of crimes and other Parkland incidents through May 10, 2021.
Animal Bite
Ranch Rd – Barkland
On May 6, a man’s Doberman was bit on the back by a large black dog at the dog park. The owner of the black dog left before the arrival of BSO. The Doberman had a small gash on his back but appeared to be otherwise healthy.
Burglary Conveyance
Trails End
On May 8, the first victim alleged that an unknown person smashed the rear driver’s side window of his silver Lexus and attempted to smash his front passenger window. The unknown person stole his wallet containing multiple credit cards, a driver’s license, health insurance card, and a Coconut Creek casino card. The vehicle was locked. After further investigation, it was found that one of the victim’s credit cards was used at Walgreens in Coral Springs.
The second victim said an unknown person attempted to smash into all three of his passenger side windows of his gray Mercedes Benz. The victim claimed the vehicle was locked, but there was no sign of forced entry. The unknown person entered the vehicle and stole a gray iPhone 11. Tot.Est.Loss: $1,050. BSO canvassed the area.
Burglary Residence
NW 59th Pl
Between May 8 and May 9, an unknown suspect(s) broke through the glass back door to enter the residence. The suspect broke into two safes taking two handguns, cash, and jewelry located in the master bedroom and office located adjacent to the master bedroom. Also, the residence located next door at NW 59 Pl., an unknown suspect(s) tried to gain entry by breaking the impact window at the rear of the house, but entry was not gained. Reported: Tot. Est. Loss: $220,905.
Domestic Disturbance
N Woodridge Dr
On May 7, contact was made with residents about a domestic disturbance that caused an accidental injury to the victim’s arm.
Lost Property
5901 Hillsboro Blvd – BJ’s Wholesale
On May 8, a person reported he lost his wallet in the parking lot.
Theft
NW 71st Ter,
On May 5, the victim’s 16″ Stihl concrete cutting saw was taken from the side yard while he was busy in the backyard. The property is an open, unfenced yard. Total loss of $1687. An area canvas had negative results.
Knight St
On May 7, the reporting person said an unknown person(s) entered the property, which is under construction, and removed building materials without the permission or authority of the owner. Tot. Est. Loss: $3,948.
6000 University Dr
Suspicious Vehicle
On May 6, a traffic stop was attempted on a silver Ford Fiesta about an expired tag. The vehicle failed to yield and entered the Sawgrass Expressway northbound on-ramp. The traffic stop was terminated.
Arrest
The suspect was arrested on Touch Or Strike/Battery/Domestic Viol charges at the 10800 block of NW 66th Ct, Parkland, on 05/09/2021.
