After a packed debut gathering and rapid growth, the Parkland Singles Meetup, a community-driven group featured recently by Parkland Talk, is hosting another in-person event.
The Parkland Singles Meetup will host a Happy Hearts Day gathering on Wednesday, February 11, at 6:30 p.m. at Dear Olivia, located at 7805 North University Drive. The Valentine’s-adjacent meetup follows the group’s recent successful event and comes as membership has climbed past 500 highly engaged local members.
“We are so excited for our upcoming Parkland Singles Meetup,” co-founder Melissa Freed tells Parkland Talk, “Our Facebook group has officially grown to over 500 members and continues to be highly engaged and steadily growing.”
As Freed shared in Parkland Talk’s original coverage of the Singles Meetup, the group was created to provide a safe, relaxed, local-first social space for single Parkland residents, including divorced parents, professionals, longtime locals, and newcomers, and it has quickly found its footing.Â
Freed said the February gathering will introduce new elements as the group evolves, including its first formal sponsorship opportunities designed to support continued in-person networking while spotlighting local businesses.
“Because of the strong interest and positive response from our last event, we are returning to Dear Olivia and introducing new elements as the group evolves,” Freed said. “One of those additions is the introduction of formal event sponsorships.”
The upcoming meetup’s first activity sponsor is Bellows Associates P.A., with sponsorships structured to give businesses flexibility in how they participate. Sponsors provide their own marketing materials, such as branded tablecloths, flyers, brochures, QR codes, or other promotional items, which are displayed throughout the event depending on the selected package.
For attendees, the experience is designed to remain easygoing and pressure-free. The event will feature an optional lock-and-key icebreaker: men receive locks, women receive keys, and they match only if there is mutual interest.
“Participation is completely optional, and no one is ever pressured to join an activity or sit in a specific area,” Freed said.
An optional wristband, priced between $10 and $15, will also be offered and include a drink and/or food special. Final details are being coordinated with the venue and will be announced soon, with updates shared on Eventbrite and in the Parkland Singles Meetup Facebook group.
