Marjory Stoneman Douglas Baseball {954 Preps}
The most dominant high school baseball program of the past half-decade, Marjory Stoneman Douglas, is set to begin its quest for a sixth consecutive state championship after being named the preseason No. 1 team in Florida.
The Eagles are coming off yet another historic season, capturing their fifth straight State Title and fourth National Championship. Despite nearly a third of the roster moving on to play college baseball, MSD once again returns a loaded team, both on the mound and at the plate.
Leading the rotation is Gio Rojas, a University of Miami signee and projected first-round pick in next year’s MLB Draft. Rojas went a perfect 13–0 last season with a microscopic 0.72 ERA. He’ll be joined by college commits Reid Dadic, Drew Boivin, and Tyler Sterzbach, all of whom will make their MSD varsity debuts, along with returning arms Carter McGuinn and Ben Bianchi.
Offensively, the Eagles bring back four starters from last year’s lineup, including Division I commits Lorenzo Laurel and Jake Rizzo. Laurel delivered a walk-off home run in the regional round to send MSD to the State Championship Game, while Rizzo was named State MVP.
Cade Raley and Matthew Toback also return, providing additional power in the middle of the order alongside Rojas. MSD will also feature several highly talented players moving up from the junior varsity level, as well as the addition of RJ Ruiz, further deepening the roster.
Once again, the Eagles will face one of the toughest schedules in the country. Their season opens on February 9 against Monsignor Pace. MSD will also compete in the top tier of the BCAA Championship later in the month and travel to Las Vegas for a national tournament.
