Flag in Parkland {Parkland Talk}
Parkland will commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks with a Patriot Day ceremony honoring the victims and first responders.
The ceremony begins at 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 11, at the P-REC gym, 10559 Trails End.
According to the city, the community gathering will include guest speakers, youth performances and musical tributes. The program will honor those who lost their lives, recognize the courage of first responders and reflect on the nation’s resilience following the attacks.
Nearly 3,000 people were killed on Sept. 11, 2001, when terrorists hijacked four commercial airplanes and attacked the World Trade Center in New York and the Pentagon outside Washington. A fourth plane crashed in Pennsylvania after passengers and crew members attempted to regain control.
Anyone who requires an auxiliary aid, communication service, or accommodation to participate should contact the Parkland ADA Coordinator, Jackie Wehmeyer, at 954-757-4134 or Florida Relay at 711 at least 48 hours before the ceremony.
