Parkland’s annual tournament celebrating one of America’s favorite “back-yard” games is back.
The 6th Annual Whiffle Blast raises funds to support South Florida’s children in need, particularly those battling cancer. Founded by Parkland dad and local chiropractor Todd Rodman, the Parkland event raises over $40,000 annually for the Jason Taylor Foundation.
Rodman said the funds are earmarked for the pediatric cancer unit at Holtz Children’s Hospital in Miami.
“We donate specifically to the pediatric cancer department to help pay for the Handtevy system, which quickly customizes dosages of medication for children,” said Rodman. “It saved my nephew James’ life after he was in a terrible accident.”
The Jason Taylor Foundation has received praise from parents thanking them for their part in the Handtevy pediatric resuscitation system because it also helped save their children.
On Saturday, January 25, at 10:00 a.m., teams will meet at Pine Trails Park to participate in the popular pastime, providing safe and healthy fun for the whole family. To register your team, visit The Jason Taylor Foundation.
Games will begin at 10 a.m. at Pine Trails Park Amphitheater, followed by food trucks, a DJ, and more. The event is free for spectators; however, they can donate $10 to participate in the home run derby. That $10 gets you ten pitches, and the top three hits will qualify for the finals.
A $50 raffle ticket will allow one lucky donor $15,000 toward any home renovation project by Casabella Design Group.
Pine Trails Park is located at 10555 Trails End, Parkland, FL 33076. Can’t make the event? You can still donate here.
