Are you feeling like you have the luck of the Irish on your side, or just ready for that spring break vacation?
March is here, spring has sprung, and there will be plenty of community events and festivities for St. Patrick’s Day. If you are looking to get on a plane or ship, there are many options at FLL and our Powerhouse Port. Now is the time to get out and experience all the different events. Don’t forget to wear your green, and please remember to enjoy the festivities responsibly.
Broward County is making moves to protect our environment and properties within our community. Through the Resilient Florida Grant Program, different projects have received over $66 million dollars. This includes money for small bridge replacement, septic to sewer conversion, and canal resilience. In addition, it will provide needed funds to continually protect groundwater and improve existing wastewater pumps. These improvements will continue to move our community forward while protecting the investments of residents in their homes and providing vital infrastructure.
Think of all the ways water impacts our daily lives. Broward County’s 21 Annual Water Matters Day is March 11th. Come out to Tree Tops Park in Davie to learn more and have a great time with the family. Educational displays, food trucks, kids’ activities, and a tree giveaway (for Broward Residents) will be available. Many of Broward’s cities, schools, and community organizations will be participating as well. This great event is free to the public from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.. We hope you can join us!
The cities of District 3 are celebrating in the sunshine this month. From 60th Anniversary celebrations in Coral Springs, North Lauderdale, and Parkland to Groove on the Grass in Tamarac, there are many options for your family to enjoy. In Parkland, there will even be a parade and festival hosted at Pine Trails Park. In addition, all cities will be hosting farmers’ markets throughout the month to get the freshest local produce. See you there!
Following on the heels of celebrating Black History Month, March is Women’s History Month. Resources are available throughout the Broward County Library system to learn more about local and national women’s history. Pioneers, both present and past, have made today possible. Broward County Libraries will also be hosting special events at different sites, such as the “Celebrating the Women Who Tell Our Stories” series. These are many great opportunities to learn and recognize women’s history throughout the month.
