A Message from Vice Mayor Jordan Isrow
March is here, and with it comes seasonal changes, exciting events, and plenty of reasons to celebrate. As the days stretch longer and the chill of winter retreats, spring brings a fresh energy that invites us to embrace the vibrancy of this amazing city we are all so fortunate to call home.
This month is extra special because it means it’s time for one of my favorite events: Parkland Day! Mark your calendars for Saturday, March 8, and get ready for a day full of fun, laughter, and community spirit. The festivities kick off with the Parkland Day Parade starting at 10 a.m., where our streets will come alive with pirate themed floats that arrrrrre sure to bring a smile to your face.
But the fun doesn’t stop there! Starting at 4 p.m., the Parkland Day Main Event begins, featuring games, rides, delicious food, and live music that will be sure to get your peg legs tapping. Whether you’re young or young at heart, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. So, round up your mates, set your sights on Pine Trails Park, and let’s make this year’s Parkland Day one that we’ll always treasure.
March also brings us some other exciting occasions including St. Patrick’s Day on the 17th. Throw on your finest green ensemble, enjoy some festive corned beef and cabbage and channel your inner Irish spirit. Just please remember to do so responsibly. And of course, we can’t forget about Spring Break. Whether you’re looking for some adventure or a chance to unwind, it is the perfect opportunity to take a step back from the daily routine, recharge the batteries, and get ready for what lies ahead.
March is also Women’s History Month, a time to honor the invaluable contributions women have made to our society. Take a moment to thank the inspiring women in your life, whether it’s a family member, friend or colleague, and show your appreciation for all that they do, and have done, for the betterment of our community and beyond.
And to cap off this month of renewal, let’s remember that Daylight Saving Time begins on March 9. While losing an hour of sleep might not be ideal, the extra daylight is well worth it so we can enjoy spending more quality time in one of our beautiful parks.
I want to thank you for the privilege to serve as your Vice Mayor and look forward to seeing you at Parkland Day!
