Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School’s Drama Department is set to bring a poignant and imaginative production to the stage with its spring musical, Alice By Heart.
Written by Steven Sater, the show will run from March 6 to March 8 at 7:00 p.m. in the school’s auditorium.
Set during the London Blitz of 1941, the story follows Alice Spencer, played by Zoe Schwartzberg, as she and a group of individuals seek refuge in an underground bunker. Amid the chaos and destruction of war, Alice finds solace in Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, transforming her surroundings into a whimsical escape.
As the reality of war and personal loss looms—most notably through her closest friend Alfred (Nicholas Lemus), who is battling tuberculosis—Alice and those around her take on the personas of Wonderland’s famous characters, blurring the line between fantasy and reality in a deeply emotional journey.
The production runs approximately 90 minutes with no intermission. Tickets are available online at GoFan.co for $15 per person — enter Stoneman Douglas High School.
