Students entering sixth through eighth grade this summer will have the opportunity to learn and perform orchestral music during the Westglades Orchestra Summer Camp in Parkland.
The four-day camp will take place from June 8-11, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Westglades Middle School. A final performance is scheduled for June 11 at 3 p.m.
The program is open to students from any school and welcomes both beginners and experienced string musicians. Separate classes will be offered for beginner and intermediate/advanced students.
Clinicians specializing in violin, viola, cello, and bass will lead section instruction before students come together for full ensemble rehearsals.
The cost is $300 per student, and no previous experience is required to participate.
Students interested in selecting orchestra as one of their electives can email Jody Lerner at jody.lerner@browardschools.com. Additional information is available from Alberto Zilberstein Obregon at alberto.zilbersteinobregon@browardschools.com.
Registration is available online at: Westglades Orchestra Summer Camp Registration.
