The Westglades Middle School’s boy’s and girl’s flag football teams have made it to the playoffs after completing an eight-game season.
The girls’ finished their season with an impressive 8-0 record, while the boys’ team finished with a record of four wins and two losses.
The girls’ secured the top spot in their division after winning all six of their divisional games. They will host the Dillard girl’s team in the playoffs on Tuesday, February 28. Coach Dawn Azzarelli was ecstatic about their success, saying, “the girls have worked extremely hard this season, and I couldn’t be prouder of their efforts.”
The boys’ team, led by Head Coach Larry Bremner, had a tougher time this season but still managed to secure the number two spot in their division. They will face off against Dillard in their playoff game, which will also take place on February 28 at 4:30 p.m.
He was assisted this year by longtime assistant coach Paul Haber and first-year coach Chris Crawford. Crawford, a former NFL player, brought a wealth of experience to the team, and, according to Bremner, his presence has been invaluable.
Bremner also praised his team’s effort. “These young men have done everything we have asked of them and more. We’re going to leave it all on the field.”
