Westglades High School continues to shine. Both volleyball teams have completed terrific seasons, flag football is underway, and another teacher was recognized.
The girl’s volleyball team made a run to the Semifinals before falling to Pompano Beach Middle School. They previously had wins over Millienim and Sunrise Middle School in the playoffs, while the boys team went 6-2 in the regular season and tied for first before falling in a play-in game for the postseason. Both the flag football teams have also shined this year as they gear up for the postseason.
Westglades Middle School teacher Brooke Pappas was recently named Teacher of the Month by the Florida Panthers. She was recognized at the Panthers’ game on January 29 against the Los Angeles Kings.
Pappas is also in charge of the Westglades Speech and Debate Team, which recently had 59 students compete at the MSAT 4 Speech and Debate Tournament. Wetglades also had 17 students compete at the Sunvite Invitational Speech Tournament on January 14, with 78 students competing at the MAST 5 Speech and Debate Tournament.
