2 Marjory Stoneman Douglas Girls Soccer Players Make Their Commitment Official

Marjory Stoneman Douglas officially held their spring signing day on Tuesday and had a pair of soccer make their commitment official on Tuesday afternoon. 

The Eagles now have six players signed to play next year with the addition of Parkland residents Carly Brodsky and Kendall Slack joining Calista McCausland, Sam Novik, Sylar Lund, and Alexis Reigel. 

“To watch them work so hard and persevere going after their dreams was an exciting experience,” said Head Coach Laura Rountree. “They didn’t stop until they accomplished their goals, and it makes me so proud of each of them.”

Carly Brodsky had an incredible varsity career in goal for the Eagles. She officially signed to play for Rollins College in Winter Park. Brodsky says signing his unreal and has been trying to make this a reality since she was a freshman.

“We sent so many emails and worked so hard to go to showcases to be seen, and for all of that work to pay off is the best feeling in the world,” said Brodsky. “I can never thank my teammates, friends, and family enough for all of the things they have done for me and have taught me.”

Brodsky began playing soccer when she was three years old. She played in a recreational league with the boys and then moved on to play for the Development Academy in Weston.

Brodsky also had a chance to represent Florida in the Olympic Development Program and plays for ENCL Prime.

In her three years on the varsity soccer team, Brodsky played in 36 games and allowed only 14 goals. She was a part of a pair of District Championships.

Brodsky didn’t know anything about Rollins college, but when she stepped on campus and practiced with the team, she fell in love with it.

“The school meets my academic standards while also providing me with the best environment to play soccer. Everyone at Rollins made me feel so included and welcomed when I went to train with them, and that was just another reason I couldn’t see myself going anywhere else.”

Kendall Slack will be traveling to Virginia to play at Hampton University.

“It feels like a dream come true and unreal all at the same time to sign, said lack. ” I also just love the feeling of a weight off my shoulder of trying to find my home for the next four years.”

Slack started soccer at four years old and began playing travel soccer at seven. She played three years on the varsity team, scored ten goals, and recorded 23 points.

She always knew she wanted to attend a Historically Black College and University, which she says will allow her to play competitively and get an excellent education.
