As Marjory Stoneman Douglas continues to produce big leaguers, they also have several young players on the rise, with two graduates recording milestones.
Rylan Lujo was named a freshman All-American at Dayton University. The All-American was an Atlantic 10 Freshman of the Week three times and hit .361 with nine home runs and 56 RBIs.
In high school, Lujo hit .407 and had 10 home runs and 81 RBIs. He also hit .453 as a senior and won four State Championships and three National Championships.
Devin-Fitz Gerald was one of four players to be a Player of the Month in the Texas Rangers organization. He began by playing rookie ball with with the Crawdads, and he hit five home runs in May. He also hit .339 with four doubles, 16 RBIs, and a 1.094 OPS while already homering once in June before he was promoted to the Low A Ball with the Hickory Crawdads. In his debut, Fitz-Gerald went 1-3 with two walks, two stolen bases and three runs scored.
Fitz-Gerald was drafted in the fifth round of the 2026 MLB draft after hitting .397 in high school with 11 home runs and 63 RBIs. He was named an All-American by MaxPreps, the American Baseball Coaches Association, and the National High School Baseball Coaches Association, and won four straight State Championships.
Jayden Dubanewicz was also named the Milwaukee Brewers Organizational Player of the Month and was promoted to the minor leagues. After being selected in the 17th round of last year’s MLB draft, Dubanewicz is 3-0 in four starts and has an ERA of 2.66.
He made his first start with the Carolina Mudcats, tossing five innings and allowing two earned runs and five strikeouts. Dubanewicz also won a top-three State Championship team in high school. Dubanewicz went 12-0 for MSD during his sophomore and junior years, helping the Eagles win a pair of State and National Championships. As a senior, Dubanewicz went 7-2 with an ERA of 1.52.
