A Coral Springs man was arrested this week following a road rage incident in Parkland that left a woman injured and hospitalized.
According to a Broward County Sheriff’s Office arrest report, Howard Elliot Seiler, 68, of Coral Springs, was taken into custody on December 2 and charged with burglary with assault or battery, a felony, and misdemeanor battery.
Investigators say the incident occurred near the 9600 block of West Hillsboro Boulevard, where Seiler and the victim became involved in a road rage confrontation after the victim slowed to yield to bicyclists traveling eastbound.
The arrest report states that Seiler allegedly cut in front of the victim and then “brake checked” her before stopping his vehicle in the roadway, blocking her path. When the victim was unable to drive around him, Seiler reportedly exited his vehicle and approached her car.
Records show the victim alleged that Seiler entered her vehicle through the open driver’s side door, grabbed her arms, and later slammed the driver’s side door into her head as she attempted to flee. The impact caused a large contusion to the victim’s forehead, authorities said
The victim was transported to Coral Springs Medical Center for treatment. A bystander witness who recorded the incident on video told police that Seiler appeared to be the aggressor. Investigators said video evidence corroborated the victim’s account.
Police later located Seiler at a business on West McNab Road in Tamarac, where he was taken into custody without incident.
According to the affidavit, Seiler acknowledged being involved in the confrontation but said he did not recall closing the car door on the victim’s head. After viewing the video, he admitted he was the person shown in the recording.
Seiler was transported to the Broward County Main Jail. He was later released after posting $15,000 bond.
