Marjory Stoneman Douglas has found success across multiple sports, and both the boys and girls soccer teams are heading into the new year with strong performances.
The boys’ team holds a 5–1–1 record and is coming off an impressive 1–0 victory over Cardinal Gibbons High School on Thursday. The Eagles also recorded back-to-back 8–0 wins against Nova and Pompano Beach High School and earned additional victories over South Broward and Chaminade-Madonna College Preparatory School.
MSD’s only loss this season came against Cypress Bay High School, and they also drew 0–0 against Pembroke Pines Charter. Up next, the Eagles face J.P. Taravella on January 6 at 4 p.m. The Trojans enter the match with a 7–1–2 record.
The girls’ team fell 1–0 in its most recent game against Cardinal Gibbons High School, but has also recorded two dominant 8–0 wins this season against South Broward and Nova High School. Their other win came in the season opener against Coral Springs Charter. The team also competed in the 13th annual Kicks for a Cure match against North Broward Prep, with donations going to Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital, but fell 3–1. MSD will also take on J.P. Taravella on January 6 at 4 p.m. The Trojans are 0–4–1 this season and have scored just two goals.
