Eagle Regiment Student Leaders Succeed in the Classroom and on the Field 4

Kayla Adams is passionate about music and leadership in the Eagle Regiment at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.

A flute player, Adams serves as a band captain and section leader.

“I have worked my way up in the marching band and love being a part of the Eagle Regiment. We work hard together, and I have made many lifelong friends in the band,” adding that while they work hard during practice, they have a lot of fun together.

Adams is also a top performer in the classroom. She is taking advanced placement courses and is dual-enrolled at Broward College. She wants to attend Florida State University and pursue a career in nursing.

“I love music, and I am committed to doing well in my academic courses,” she said.

Saxophone player Mathieu Etienne is also a band captain for the Eagle Regiment. He worked his way up through the band and gained confidence as a musician and leader.

“I have enjoyed my time in the band. It takes discipline and effort to succeed as a musician, and I have made friends in the Eagle Regiment.”

The Eagle Regiment is preparing for the Falcon Sound Marching Band Invitational at Flanagan High School on October 3, the Florida Marching Band State Championships at Florida International University on November 14, and other competitions and events. The band will also participate in a New Year’s Day parade in Rome, Italy.

Director Jeancarlo Napoles said that they have a good band program and all members work hard to be successful.

He said, “We are looking forward to our trip to Rome, and we will tour the major sites of the city.”
