The Marjory Stoneman Douglas girls lacrosse team started their season off with a historic performance from the University of Louisville commit Lauren Figas.
The senior scored eight goals as the Eagles defeated Benjamin School (Palm Beach) 20-7 Friday night.
Senior Alexa Kitaygorodsky had a hat trick and recorded four assists while freshman Taylor McGovern scored her first career high school goal. In net, freshman Bree Rhodes made six spectacular saves to earn the win.
This was also MSD’s first game in nearly 12 months as the Eagles had their season cut short last year due to COVID:19 after starting out 7-0 and outscoring their opponents 120-19 in their seven games.
Up next, MSD will host St. Andrews on Tuesday, February 23 at 7 p.m.
CORRECTION: in error, we originally reported Sammy Fisher scored eight goals. It was Lauren Figas who did. We regret this error.
