Dog lovers and their four-legged companions are invited to Barkland on Saturday, May 16, for a morning of pet-friendly fun, contests, vendors, and adoptable dogs, as the popular community event returns from 9 a.m. to noon.
The event will also celebrate the reopening of Barkland, which was closed for two weeks for improvements and maintenance.
Attendees can have caricatures drawn of themselves and their dogs while browsing vendors offering pet accessories, grooming services, and other pet-related products. Dogs available for adoption will also be on-site.
City spokesperson Todd DeAngelis said the event has become a favorite among residents and is expected to draw a large crowd once again.
“With all these cute dogs, how could it not be?” He said, joking that the dogs attending the reopening would likely “re-christen” the freshly updated park.
He is encouraging visitors to support Everglades Angels Pet Rescue by donating pet supplies during the event.
Requested items include new or gently used medium and large Martingale collars with buckles, six-foot slip leads, unopened Kirkland lamb and rice kibble, Wellness Complete Health puppy food with deboned chicken, oatmeal, and salmon meal, Purina Pro Plan turkey canned food, and heavy-duty Nylabones.
Barkland is located at 9245 Ranch Rd.
